TRAINING WORKSHOPS ON LATENT VARIABLE MODELLING OF CATEGORICAL DATA: TOOLS OF ANALYSIS FOR CROSS-NATIONAL SURVEYS (LCAT)
In April and May 2012 the LCAT research group at the London School of Economics will be running three training workshops on latent variable models for categorical data, focusing on their use for analysing cross-national survey data.
LCAT is an ESRC funded project: http://stats.lse.ac.uk/lcat/
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
OVERVIEW
The workshops aim to introduce participants to latent trait and latent class models (Day 1), and to multiple group latent trait and latent class analyses (Day 2). Data for the lectures and lab exercises will be drawn from a range of cross-national social surveys. The workshops provide theoretical and practical approaches for comparing distributions of latent variables between groups and for examining measurement equivalence across groups, incorporating the use of marginal residual statistics to examine model fit in multiple group analyses. Mplus and R will be used for practical exercises.
