GPRD has a vacancy for a SAS Programmer (12 months fixed term contract)
Working within the Research Services Team of the GPRD (General Practice Research Database) group, this is a key post in terms of creating the infrastructure to enable high level healthcare research using electronic health data. You will be required to develop, implement and document generic SAS routines to manipulate large healthcare datasets. This will include the development of a set of ready to use 'plug-in' SAS modules to undertake specific parts of data management and basic statistical analyses.
You will have a degree or equivalent in computing, life sciences, maths or statistics and hold a SAS advanced programmer certificate. You will have proven experience as a SAS programmer, ideally in clinical research or epidemiology. You should be able to generate tables, figures and graphs from underlying data, fit for presentation in manuscripts or in expert reports as well as having a good understanding of univariate statistics. You will need excellent communication skills and good interpersonal skills with an organised, proactive and adaptable approach. Able to work independently you should be highly motivated and good at working to specified deadlines.
