A profession needs a qualification. Without it you don't get to work. Think
doctors.

Propaganda is a valuable and necessary tool of communication. I use it
entirely without shame in my cycling advocacy work.
Marketing is self-promotion. Again, nothing wrong with that, per se.
Marketing is about taking. The bottom line is everything in business, in
which taking more than one gives is the only sustainable model.
That said, I'm not so sure about contrasting these big bad world
qualities with the touchy feely fantasy of public outreach as
"altruistic" and "giving". That's twice today that I've had to clean my
computer display.
