Dear colleagues,
As many of you will probably be aware, the University of Birmingham is planning a new library build and cultural gateway: http://www.birmingham.ac.uk/alumni/giving/circlesofinfluence/library.aspx. As part of this, I'm looking for information that will shape the design of our new library training room(s). I'd really appreciate any information about what other institutions (especially those with new library builds or recent refurbishments) have in the way of training facilities / rooms within their libraries.
In particular, I'd be really interested to hear what's worked well and not so well, anything we might need to look out for, lessons learnt in planning, etc. For example, what size rooms do you have and how many do you have? Are they dedicated training rooms or are they also used as computer clusters? What kind of set up do you have - are they flexible learning spaces or standard computer banks facing a central lectern?
Any information will be gratefully received & I'll happily summarise for the list.
Thanks & best wishes,
Sarah
