Hi folks,
Sorry for the delay getting back to you. Monday and yesterday were spent
fire-fighting and it was hard to keep up with mailing lists.
David, the problem with Britannica will indeed have been caused by the
invalid metadata. It should be resolved now, because they should have
updated their metadata by now. Please let me know if it isn't.
When I said that the problem was resolved, I meant that the issue on the
federation servers was resolved. Unfortunately a number of SPs
downloaded the invalid metadata file, so access problems continued with
those. Most SPs update fairly quickly so the problems go away again, but
some SPs are not updating frequently enough or their metadata update
process is failing, so the problems continue. Please raise calls with
any service providers that give you problems and apply pressure that
way; you after all are the license payers. We do what we can, but it
isn't always enough on its own.
We've been working with Proquest and Science Direct, and we believe
Proquest is now OK. We think there may still be some problems with
Science Direct; would anyone still having trouble with that (or
Proquest) please let me know.
We are aware of ongoing problems with Engineering Village. We have tried
to make contact with them but it proved difficult. However we think we
have now found someone who can help us, and we have reported the problem
to them.
Cheers,
Sara
