Dear Colleagues,
I apologise in advance that this request may seem rather vague.
The occasion has arisen to fill a part-time vacancy and rather than just recruit like for like,
I would like to take the opportunity to recruit someone who can add to our skill base.
I am particularly interested in someone who might have knowledge and experience of
working with audio-visual materials. I am keen to embark on the digitisation of our
existing video and DVD collections, and even our image collections, so want someone
who knows what they are doing when it comes to creating (or converting to) digital files.
And someone who might be familiar with cataloguing these materials.
My request to you is, do you work in this area, or have someone in the library who does
(whether as a full-time job or as part of their other duties)? And can you let me have some
idea of the sort of job description I should be compiling and the skills I should be looking for
in a potential recruit?
I have to meet with our vice Principal soon to put forward my case, and want to give the
impression that I know what I am talking about!!
Many thanks for any help or advice you can offer,
Frank Trew
