I guess I engage with them all in different ways. I only check when I know I have enough time to deal with things and don't feel too bad if I miss something or choose not to reply. Sometimes if I do see something interesting but know I don't have time I will email it to myself for later (but only if I'm sure I'll actually want to read it).
Facebook as it's more personal things I look at with a different 'hat' on as it were and sometimes just have a quick glance without posting an update. With Twitter I go through phases of tweeting and replying a lot and other times just reading.
I tend to do small short bursts rather than be there for ages.

Subject: [CIG-E-FORUM] Split Attentions, Cataloguing and Social Media
I think we have either entered a quieter part of the day or some messages are taking a wee while to come through (suspect both) so I thought it would be an appropriate time to ask about how you find managing your time and attention in relation to social media?
I was also wondering if there is a particular maximum number of social media spaces that you feel it's worthwhile engaging with or that you can manage interruptions from?
- Nicola.
