very interesting post and links, Adrian. I was aware that the Mail website - and Sonia Poulton in particular - are offering up opinions that one might not expect to find in their printed versions but the Express article was a new one to me. It is well worth looking at Sonia Poulton's other posts (in the link below) as she has been pretty consistent and vociferous in her opposition to the welfare reforms and has also been very supportive of the campaigners behind the Spartacus Report.

Also interesting, if not entirely surprising, is that the outrage contained within the Express article largely relates to the waste of 'taxpayers cash' due to the number of successful appeals, rather than the premise on which the assessments are based.
These are interesting developments and they're not the only ones. Caitlin Moran has written a couple of powerful pieces on poverty more generally in The Times recently and Ian Birrell (David Cameron's former speech writer) has written some equally powerful ones on the welfare reforms, including this one in The Evening Standard:
