Edinburgh Research & Innovation: Research into Results Communications Officer
The Research Into Results (RIR) Communications Officer will be responsible for the delivery of communications to key UK and international stakeholders and partners to raise awareness of the research and development work of the ESPA, ESRC-DFID and RIU programmes within RIR Ltd. This role involves engaging with stakeholders, synthesising research outputs, communicating key messages to specific audiences, giving communications advice to projects, organising events and providing support to RIR Ltd. staff for communication activities.
To achieve the objectives of all RIR research programmes, you will be expected to deliver against the communications strategy of the ESPA, ESRC-DFID and RIU schemes in collaboration with RIR Ltd. Directors and the Communications Task Leader from IIED for the ESPA components. Post is fixed term for one year.
You will work with IIED and RIR Ltd. to:-
•Understand requirements and priorities of a communications piece.
•Initiate ideas, interview contacts and conduct background research.
•Write communications pieces on scientific research and impact for different audiences.
•Incorporate edits as requested by stakeholders involved in the programmes.
•Design and create page layouts and templates for written communication pieces.
•Lay out each story and relevant photos in the required template and consult with IIED on the editorial/production process where necessary.
•Assist with filming, editing and the production process (where applicable).
•Liaise with the RIR Ltd. Director and the ESPA Communications Task Leader to agree sign-off of pieces for publication.
•Build close collaborative working relationships with IIED, communication teams from programme funders and RIR Ltd. staff.
