Interesting: some of the images he painted or drew remind me of the landscapes of the great Australian artist, Fred Williams.
In the poem, the term works, as I see it referring to those seemingly dashed off pencil sketches, which are the Twomblys I like best (& which Barthes wrote about with such delight).
