Booking is now open for the conference on Music and Shape to be held at Senate House, University of London on 12 -14 July 2012.
Musicians habitually describe music as being shaped, especially when speaking of performance. This conference aims to explore, from as many perspectives as possible, relationships between music and shape. It contributes to the AHRC-funded Research Centre for Musical Performance as Creative Practice and its project, based at King’s College London, on ‘Shaping Music in Performance’ (www.cmpcp.ac.uk/smip.html), and is organised in collaboration with the Institute of Musical Research.
The draft programme for the conference and the booking form are available from

or via a quick link from the 'booking now' section of the IMR home page atwww.music.sas.ac.uk.
Note on accommodation:
The Music and Shape conference takes place two weeks before the start of the Olympic Games. Hotel bookings are already becoming difficult during this period. Rooms have therefore been reserved for the conference at two hotels - all details are given on the booking form. Rooms must be booked with the IMR BY 1 JUNE 2012.
