Applications are invited for a postdoctoral fellowship in experimental physical chemistry jointly mentored by Prof. Kristie A. Boering of University of California, Berkeley, and Prof. Jim J. Lin of Institute of Atomic and Molecular Sciences (IAMS), Academia Sinica and Department of Chemistry, National Taiwan University. Crossed molecular beam and bulk photochemistry experiments of importance in atmospheric chemistry and climate change research will be carried out by the fellow at both UC Berkeley and IAMS and will include access to resources and interactions with faculty and scientists at both locations. Support of the fellow is through an appointment at UC Berkeley funded by the prestigious Dreyfus Postdoctoral Program in Environmental Chemistry, which supports innovative fundamental research in the chemical sciences and engineering related to the environment. The appointment at UC Berkeley will be for one-year with the possibility of extension, with salary commensurate with experience.
The successful applicant will have a Ph.D. in chemistry, chemical physics, or related discipline by the time of hire. Candidates with experience with molecular beams, laser spectroscopy, and/or photochemistry are particularly encouraged to apply.
A letter of interest stating research experience, interests and goals, along with a Curriculum Vitae and the names and addresses of three references should be sent to Prof Boering ([log in to unmask]) and Prof. Lin ([log in to unmask]) no later than March 1, 2012. At least one confidential letter of reference should be sent under separate cover (please refer referees to the University’s statement on confidentiality, found at http://apo.chance.berkeley.edu/evalltr.html). The University of California is an Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action Employer.
