Dear Colleagues,
We should like to draw your attention to the fact that Hong Kong Baptist University has announced a call for applications to its doctoral programs. Admission carries with it a studentship. You can find details of the HKBU doctoral programme at: http://buar.hkbu.edu.hk/uploads/files/pg_prospectus/fields.pdf. Information about the School of Communication, as well as links to the application process, can be found at: http://www.comm.hkbu.edu.hk/. You might like to note that:
1. The studentships are open to candidates of any nationality: ability is the only criterion.
2. Applications may be made in any aspect of media and communication in which we can offer competent supervision.
3. The studentships cover fees, living expenses and some conference travel costs.
4. Studentship holders may be required to carry out some duties as teaching or research assistants
5. The deadline for applications is 31st March 2012, 12.00 Hong Kong time (GMT +8)
Hong Kong is an excellent place to study media and communication. It is a vibrant, cosmopolitan city that has a lively and diverse media scene. Hong Kong Baptist University is particularly strong in journalism, film and television, PR, advertising, health and organizational communication research. Research students have the opportunity to follow courses given by lecturers in the other doctoral programmes across the territory, so it is possible to build up an exceptionally broad knowledge of current issues in media and communication.
While this is a good place to study different aspects of Chinese communication, the studentships are not restricted to people working on local topics. Applications covering any aspect of the field would be very welcome indeed. We are keen to make sure that our doctoral programme is diverse both in membership and in subject matter.
If you, or any of your students, are interested in learning more about the scholarships here at HKBU, please contact the Director of the Doctoral Programme, Professor Chen Ling ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>).
Best wishes
Colin Sparks
