copyright law reflects the taking and republishing something without permission.
Whether it is a brilliant site doing it or a rubbish one is not consideration. You can be mugged by a brilliant thief, but that makes the mugging no less of an unlawful act.
Pinterest makes use of the images by republishing them. They take the work, in its entirety, without permission. If, one day, theur business model derives revenue based (eg) upon advertisnig placed next to yout copyright picture then they profit from your work.

I can't see there would be any breach of copyright considering the link back, US copyright law, fair use, and the valuable traffic generated. Now if Pinterest the company started making use of the images that would be different, so can you please explain the issue here?

It's hailed as some sort of social media wonder toy. The picture is grabbed, published on Pinterest, and yes, a back-link to your site is created, a sort of quid pro quo for unpermissioned grabbing of your copyright picture. And yes, t takes the picture and lodges it on Pinterest. http://media-cdn.pinterest.com/upload/152207662376192781_Tt59L5pq_f.jpg is a picture of ours I experimented with myself. Note the url.
