Dear all,
A question for you and request for examples.
Has anyone produced people-based indexes from their collections management
databases where in some instances records relating to a person may not have
a related item in the collection?
An example would be of an index of artists drawn from a database of
artworks, where the index is the public-facing published (online) entry
into all the rest of the related data. Or, an index of writers drawn from a
database of books and other writings. So in the second instance we may want
to document an author but not have any related books in the collection.
The main issue is to avoid the need to enter data twice in two systems, if
possible, or use export functions to publish out to an index. I am looking
at what Omeka can do in addition to a couple of other systems but I would
be very interested to hear from anyone who has done a similar thing or
wanted to.
Conceptually I am going around in circles at the moment !
Thanks in advance,
Tehmina
