italian-studies: Scholarly discussions in any field of Italian studies
Dear Judith,
I don't know if this is of any help to you but last October I stayed in a
small hotel called Hotel Locanda Orchidea, in Via borgo degli Albizi 11. It
was om one floor of a palazzo, orginially the home of Gemma Donati, wife of
Dante!. It consists of several small rooms (no bathrooms) but two ample
bathrooms on the floor. It is run by an extremely nice English woman, who
may even recommend some other place to stay. She has been living in
Florence for 25 years at least. The location is marvellous - two minutes
walk from the Duomo. There is no breakfast served in the hotel, but €2
voucher from the hotel will get you a coffee and croissant in a cafe down
the road. I have no doubt that you could get a special rate if you were
staying for a month or so - in any event, it might be worth an email or
telephone call to see if the owner can recommend any other option.
Good luck, I can think of nothing better than a few months research in
Florence. Details are below:

Subject: [I-S] Accommodation in Florence this summer
italian-studies: Scholarly discussions in any field of Italian studies
Dear all,
I'm a postgraduate student planning a research trip to Florence from approx.
9th June- 4th August 2012. I'm currently trying to find reasonably-priced
accommodation and am having some trouble doing so. I would be very grateful
for any suggestions/advice from list members.
Thank you in advance,
Judith Allan
