Hello All
Here at University Campus Suffolk we are looking at ways in which we can improve the support we offer nursing students when they are away on placement. Does any university library
• Give students on placement any special privileges e.g. extra loans or extended loan periods? Our standard loan period is 2-weeks which becomes a problem when students are on placement for 5 weeks or more. The problem becomes acute when books are reserved and cannot be renewed.
• Have return arrangements in place whereby students can return books to the placement library which then organises them to be shipped back rather than the students having to make a special visit. At present our students have to return items by post is inconvenient and costly. We are encouraging them to use e-books when possible.
• Provide any guidance/advice regarding the use of NHS resources or leave this to the hospital libraries? I believe that some university libraries are now bulk uploading NHS Athens logins for students to use prior to going on placement.
• Have a Library guide for placement students that you would be willing to share or any other information that might be useful?
Many thanks to anyone who can help
