Dear all,

We would like to invite you to the ASAB Interdisciplinary Workshop on
Physical Cognition & Problem Solving to be held at the University of
Birmingham on June 27th – 28th 2012. This event is FREE to attend and
travel bursaries are available. We hope proceedings from this workshop
to form a special issue in Animal Behaviour, subject to peer review.

The aim of this workshop is to provide an excellent networking
opportunity for both post-graduate students and senior-level scientists
working in the field of cognition. It will provide excellent potential
for delegates to forge new links with researchers from other
institutions and disciplines, particularly for younger academics.

The topic of physical problem-solving is inherently interdisciplinary,
bringing together researchers from several fields. They share a common
interest in the nature of cognitive architectures, how they may have
evolved phylogenetically and how they develop over an individual's
lifetime. This may be investigated through controlled experiments with
human children (psychology), field observations and captive studies of
animals (zoology) and the design of behaviourally flexible, interactive
robots, able to explore and learn about their environment (computer
sciences).

Invited speakers include:
* Joanna Bryson (Bath)
* Ludwig Huber (Vienna)
* Nicola McGuigan (Heriot-Watt)
* Murray Shanahan (Imperial)
* Elva Robinson (York)

We would especially like to encourage postgraduate students to present a
poster or an oral presentation, or to simply attend.

Interested participants should register for FREE here:

http://pcps2012.eventbrite.co.uk/

Deadline for abstract submission: May 11th
Deadline for registration to attend: June 26th
