Hi Patty
I think you should do this activity 30 days in to four sections
Fist prepare the students to organize their spatial notion, with quickly
drawing large subjects, without moviment, like streets, buildings,
landscapes( without details, just the essence)
Second, start with proportions of subjects, perspective lines and geometric
association, including few details, but complete cenes as a result.
(observation plus spacial organization)
Third, memory exercices, they must look a cene for a few minutes and after
this, turn the yes to the paper and registrer the most they can.
Fourth, creative design, they must see a cene for a minutes, look around,
think in other thing, things that they had already seen, and turn to the
paper and do a original, unique, and personal draw.
This will prepare then to observe, to memorize and acquire information
enough to do creative drawings.
This is the base of my research.

Feb 2012 (#2012-8)
Hello Drawing Researchers;
I am setting up a challenge/project with my students. The challenge is that
we are going to commit to drawing 15 minutes a day for 30 days in a row.
It's just straight drawing, not worrying about result, theme, style,
critical voice-- hoping to establish the habit if drawing into their lives,
with weekly meetings for accountability.
I am going to give them daily suggestions, but also I expect that themes
will emerge. Actually, I am curious about what will happen.
Can you please send me suggestions of 15 minute exercises that you think
will fit this model. The drawings are all being done in a sketchbook, so
something like visual journaling, but also can be more mindless. The idea is
to get rid of the resistance, perfectionism, self doubt-- the kind of things
that would keep someone from successfully following through. The idea is
oriented towards the practice, not the result.
You are a great resource!
Thank you!!
