i-Docs - On the back of a sold out 2011 we are now a two-day symposium - presenting the latest debates around interactive documentary and showcasing examples of innovative work from leading artists, producers and community activists.
Some of the most active and creative interactive documentary experts from across mainland Europe, North America, Canada and the UK, will be brought together in central Bristol to exchange their ideas and visions.
i-Docs will be of interest to media educators, instructors, artists, producers and activists working within the field. Delegates will gain insight in to new tools, have access to cutting edge case studies and an intensive engagement with a fast-moving area of creative practice. Fast track developers for HTML 5, HonkyLab, Popcorn js and 3WDOC will be presenting their projects, producers from the award-winning Submarine Channel will reflect on their experiences of transmedia documentary production, and leading documentary theorists will respond in relation to the wider history of the genre.
Panel sessions and screenings will cover key debates around user participation in i-docs, layering experience through pervasive media, activism and ethics, open source i-docs and the semantic web.
Invited keynotes include:
• Brett Gaylor (Popcorn.js, Rip: a remix manifesto)
• Jigar Mehta (18 Days in Egypt)
• Kat Cizek (Highrise, Out My Window)
Our aim is to stimulate debate across the commercial, community based and academic sectors, and to promote an inclusive and open-ended view of the possibilities and priorities of this rapidly evolving area of practice.
Many delegates will be using this event as an opportunity to update their skills and knowledge - i-Docs 2011 sold out and we had to turn folk away – don’t miss out on your chance to benefit…
Full two-day tickets are available from http://bit.ly/idocstorefront at a cost of £150 – which includes lunch and refreshments. Single day passes are available for £90.
A limited number of places are available to Postgraduate researchers at a discounted rate.
Please see our website http://i-docs.org/ for further details of the confirmed programme.
