Hi all
Yes, interesting reading. There is a fine balance here, and important not to throw the baby out with the bathwater. Implying that your happiness is your business and you can think your way into wellbeing indeed functions to uphold the status quo and the various inequities it perpetuates. But to suggest therefore that happiness is a trivial goal doesn't follow.
Happiness is where it is at, in the sense that surely human suffering and its opposite (happiness?) are at the core of a good society. But people will be happy when there are the social conditions conducive to this - e.g. reasonable material conditions and reasonable equity (for starters).

Subject: Article on Action for Happiness from today's Guardian
Here is a short article by Dave Harper of UEL on the "Happiness" agenda which appeared in today's Guardian society.

Useful to have out there I think.
For what it's worth The Guardian seems to be quite interested in this kind of thing at the moment. A couple of weeks ago they also published this piece by Suzanne Moore which is also worth a look.
