Dear Annie (and all),
I hope you are well, I am so glad you have posted this. Some friends and I have also been discussing the Health and Social Care Bill more recently, however these discussions have generally centred around our disappointment and horror at the proposed changes. It is good to hear that the concerns with a lack of statement from the BPS is spoken about elsewhere too. I was wondering if the BPS has not made a statement due to their position of not taking a position!
Unfortunately, I think my friends and I are generally feeling beaten down by the current changes to many aspects of welfare by the current coalition government. Perhaps selfishly, we are also trying to manage our own professional/personal integrity in light of all these changes, which do result in professional isolation too at times. In my cynicism, I do wonder if these simultaneous multiple changes to the welfare system are designed to make those of us with (any) power feel disempowered and helpless.
I too would be interested in thinking or hearing about ideas for collective action, and how we can mobilise quickly. I know many people would be interested in doing something.
I apologise for not bringing any ideas to the table, however am glad to have been able to share (vent) my concerns too.
Abdullah
