Body of Laws
Refrain 17
Life prickles the philosopher Spiny sphinx
running before the wind The heart-wood ridge
The philosophical spinster tells a spider
“I am a long yarn the names of woman imitate
precious stone I am the widow of a true ruby
because the laws of my country call me so” The
art of silk-worms advancing in years A female
spinner exhausted by a parson who preaches weak
sermons Thorny trees emit rays & tiny sparks
Covered with black fur a kind of larva spinning
thread A harpsichord having one note Thorn
feathers thin & hard set in motion & so much
for the two lizards of philosophy Either hand
covered with spines Breath-spirit makes curves
with the outer air Dense masss of sand hills
