The University of Portsmouth wishes to appoint a Lecturer in East Asian
(including Chinese and Japanese) Area Studies to play a key role in the
development of this subject area. The applicant will be expected to have
specialist knowledge of and a commitment to scholarship in this subject
area, have a relevant first and postgraduate degree (a PhD at or near
completion is desirable), and teaching experience within the Higher
Education sector or with other adult learners. S/he will be a native or
near-native speaker and will ideally have a good level of language
competence in Mandarin Chinese and/or Japanese. The ability to
contribute to the teaching of one or more of the following is desirable:
wider multi-disciplinary Area Studies; business-related areas; Mandarin
Chinese or Japanese (including translation). The appointment is
full-time.____
The person we are looking for should be happy to work as part of a team,
with an outgoing personality, and a willingness to develop teaching,
including eLearning, materials.____
Salary will be at the appropriate point on the University Lecturer
scale, depending on qualifications and experience.____
