1.4 How Learning Technology is used in schools - your views are needed
With the schools-based NIACE, ALT is working with the Department for
Education to encourage public discussion about what technology can do

2.4 Flowing from October’s meeting of all four of ALT’s Operational
Committees, several events are now in the pipeline including:
* a one-day event about large-scale curriculum redesign modelled on last
June’s successful Lecture Capture conference

3.1 JISC Online Conference - Recordings Available
Recordings of live presentations at the JISC Online Conference,
Innovating e-Learning 2011, are now available free of charge.
If you were unable to attend the conference or would like to review the
content of sessions you found valuable as a delegate, you will find
session recordings and associated resources within the online conference

3.2 JISC On Air Listeners' Survey - a week left for your response
We would like to invite you to take part in an online survey about JISC
On Air Radio Shows. If you haven’t yet had a chance to tell us what you
think of the shows, now is your opportunity. We are interested in how
useful these shows are to you and what sort of things you would like to
see in future shows. We anticipate it will take around six minutes to

3.3 Knowledge Transfer: New Games, New Rules
JISC infoNet are pleased to announce the launch of a new infoKit –
‘Knowledge Transfer 2.0’, or ‘KT2.0’. This resource integrates current
innovation theory, modern social media tools and current thinking on
market behaviour or motivation, to provide a more effective model of

4. Other events
4.1 Learning in Context 2012: workshop on Mobile Learning, 26-27 March
2012, Brussels, Belgium
On 26 and 27 March we are organizing a Mobile Learning workshop. The
workshop is aimed at educational professionals from industry, formal
education and CPD who have some experience in the application of mobile
learning. In the workshop the vision of future applications of mobile
learning, research questions and case studies are on the agenda. The
workshop is bi-lingual, Dutch and English. The workshop is organized by
the Mobile Learning team of CELSTEC with support of the STELLAR network
of Excellence.

4.2 Extending your online courses, starts 25 April 2012
'Extending your online courses is a new 4 week online course from OCSLD,
led by George Roberts. We will explore a range of up to date tools and
assess their suitability for use in online courses. We will discuss the
issues they raise including identity, privacy, disclosure, digital and
information literacy and the benefit and challenges of online

4.3 HEA Workshop: Making the Most of Open Data in Education Studies NEW
DATE 23 March 2012
A full-day hands-on workshop at Liverpool John Moores University on
combining open data with easy-to-use visualisation tools for enhancement
of Education Studies courses. The morning session will introduce
developments in 'open and linked data' and review sources and types of
data that could be incorporated into classroom practice. In the
afternoon, participants will be supported in developing a simple 'linked
data' application for use in their own teaching. A closing plenary will
review what has been achieved, considering how best to exploit available
resources and embed these in participants own practices. Free to attend.

4.4 JISC TechDis Tuesdays - dialogues to make a difference
TechDis Tuesdays are online fortnightly workshops where we: present a
short video conversation on a specific accessibility theme; facilitate a
live ‘accessibility clinic’ on the day’s topic, providing an opportunity
for people to swap stories, compare experiences and discuss good
practice; signpost relevant resources from JISC TechDis and other
partner organisations.
Sessions are scheduled to last 20 minutes but lively discussions could
go on for longer. Sessions start at 13.00 on the appropriate day. For

4.6 Ireland & UK Moodlemoot 2012 – Dublin
It has been a few years since a Moodlemoot has been held in Ireland, so
we are delighted to announce that the Ireland & UK Moodlemoot 2012 will

4.7 Media & Learning Conference 2012 to take place 14-15 November 2012
The annual Media & Learning Conference, aimed at policy makers, service
providers and practitioners, will take place on 14-15 November 2012 in
Brussels. It is being organised in collaboration with the Flemish
Ministry of Education and Training and the European Commission
Directorate-General for Education and Culture. The programme will
include lots of new features including the annual MEDEA Awards Ceremony
and presentations from all 2012 finalists. To be involved in the

4.8 PebblePad 3 Roadshow
During late March 2012 Pebble Learning are organizing a number of
showcase events around the country to give people a chance to see a
completely new and redesigned version of PebblePad. After each event
we'll be making a PebblePad3 trial account available so that all
attendees can put the new system to the test for themselves. There is no
charge for attending these events and refreshments will be provided.

5. Calls for proposals
5.1 10th Academic Practice and Technology (APT) Conference: Employer
Engagement in a Digital Age will be held on July 4th 2012.
This conference, run through our new eCentre, is sponsored by the HEA
and attracts an international audience. It brings together
practitioners, researchers, students and managers who have engaged
employers and industry through the design, development or delivery of
technology based or led higher education, work based learning, learner
employability or e-work programmes. Contributions to the conference
programme are sought from students, practitioners and researchers in all
education and training sectors that contribute to the discourses,
provide case study examples of, or present project/research reports
aligned with at least one of the conference aims. The deadline for
receipt of proposals is by midnight Monday 2 April, 2012.
5.2 Advance notice of call for bids for providers in the FE and Skills
Sector - JISC Advance FE and Skills Development and Resources Programme
This is advance notice to providers in the FE and Skills sector of a
forthcoming call for bids for funding, totalling £1.5 million which will
be issued on Friday 17th February. The funding will support the
repurposing and contextualisation of JISC resources for FE and Skills
providers and projects to improve learner experiences of provision and
enhance organisational efficiency and effectiveness. Details of the call

5.4 7th International Blended Learning Conference - Call for proposals
The University of Hertfordshire’s Learning and Teaching Institute is
pleased to announce the 'Seventh International Blended Learning
Conference' in partnership with JISC Advance at The Fielder Centre,
University of Hertfordshire, Hatfield, UK on 13th and 14th June 2012.
The title of this year’s conference is “Reflecting on our achievements –
What’s next for technology-enhanced learning and teaching?” The
