People. Our Most Valuable Resource
It's the thousands of people who work here that make us one of the UK's most popular and respected universities. People we're proud of. That's why if you join us in any one of our many diverse roles, you'll feel valued, supported and cared for. Not just through our excellent benefits package (including generous annual leave, a final salary pension, childcare facilities and discounted travel) but also through the excellent opportunities we can offer you to develop, both personally and professionally.
At the Clinical Trials Research Unit, you not only belong to the University of Leeds, but play an integral part in one of the UK's most successful and top performing clinical trials units. We're a leader in the field of clinical trials and were one of the first 26 clinical trials units across the UK to be awarded full registration status by the UK Clinical Research Collaboration. With an annual research income of over £4m and a portfolio of over 80 active studies, we're also one of the busiest UK trials units.
The Unit conducts national and international randomised clinical trials in a variety of clinical fields, such as cancer, cardiovascular disease and stroke, mental health, obesity, skin, oral health, musculoskeletal disease and care of the elderly. The CTRU is the Clinical Trial Coordinating Office for the Myeloma UK early phase clinical trial network, and has a growing portfolio of early phase clinical trials within Myeloma and other cancers. Our aim is to support the challenge of changing clinical practice for the better and our past results and current work has already helped to do this - http://ctru.leeds.ac.uk/
Due to our success, we are undergoing major expansion and are looking for talented, bright and highly motivated individuals keen to join our well established team of 21 statisticians supporting the Unit's ever expanding portfolio of clinical trials. Working in a multidisciplinary team including statisticians, programmers, clinicians, health economists, health service researchers and trial managers, you will be involved in a wide range of statistical activities, including design, conduct, analysis and reporting of clinical trials, general consulting to and training of health professionals.
You will work on internationally renowned trials designed to answer questions of real importance to clinicians and patients, ultimately improving disease outcomes and patient care.
If you want to make a difference and be part of a successful, highly talented, multi-disciplinary team, then we want you. All statistical roles offer excellent opportunities for career development within a well established statistical team and a chance to further broaden your expertise through methodological research. Opportunities also exist for PhD registration.
