Hello all,
I was wondering if anyone could help me with what I think is a moderator analysis.
It's been a while since I've done any statistical analyses (I've moved from research into clinical work) so apologies if this is a really basic question!
I have the following variables;
1. Risk Factor (this can either be expressed as an ordinal variable 1,2,3 or a dichotomous variable 0,1)
2. Moderator (Drug X - dichotomous 0,1)
3. Negative Outcome (Symptom Y dichotomous 0,1)
I have established that there is a relationship between the risk factor and the negative outcome by doing simple Chi square tests.
Only 35 of the patients in my dataset have been given Drug X, while 1033 have not. 530 had a contra-indication to receiving the drug (again dichotomous 0,1), although not all of these patients would have been 'at risk'.
What I'd like to be able to examine is - does Drug X reduce the strength of the relationship between the risk factor and the negative outcome?
Any thoughts would be much appreciated!
Many thanks in advance,
Brian
