Research Associates x 2
MRC Centre for Outbreak Analysis and Modelling/Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology/School of Public Health
Salary £27,400 - £34,820 per annum
St Mary's Campus
Two exciting positions have become available within the MRC Centre for Outbreak Analysis and Modelling at Imperial College London. The MRC Centre has built upon a world-leading research group in the Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology at Imperial College to undertake applied collaborative work with national and international agencies in support of policy planning and response operations against emerging infectious disease threats. The successful candidates will be members of both the Centre and the Department, and will be based at the St Mary's Campus, Paddington.
We are seeking two Research Associates to work on a Defra-funded project developing computer models of cattle herds including the key individual-animal and herd factors affecting vaccination success. The project will explore the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of various vaccination strategies using computer models developed. A key component of the work will be the promotion of an understanding of the herd modelling approach and cost-effectiveness analyses through presentations and workshops. The post holders will be supervised by Professor Christl Donnelly.
The successful applicants will have a PhD or equivalent in mathematics, population biology, epidemiology, statistics, economics or a related discipline, have experience of modelling disease spread and/or population dynamics, and have excellent communication skills.
Both posts are full time and fixed term until 28 February 2014 in the first instance.
For informal enquiries please contact Professor Christl Donnelly ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>).
Applicants are strongly encouraged to consider applying for two similar Research Associate roles currently advertised, funded by EU-FP7, also with the MRC Centre for Outbreak Analysis and Modelling. Imperial College London job reference number: SM012-12.
