This new post provides an exciting opportunity for a research statistician who may be at the start of their career. The combination of being a key member of an established research group and exposure to a variety of other research studies via the consultancy service will give the successful applicant wide-ranging experience.
The post-holder will be responsible for conducting statistical analyses of data from the Wellcome Trust funded Size and Lung function In Children (SLIC) study (www.ucl.ac.uk/slic<http://www.ucl.ac.uk/slic>). They will also work with the Caudwell Xtreme Everest team to analyse some of data gained from the expedition (www.xtreme-everest.co.uk<http://www.xtreme-everest.co.uk>).
The post is initially funded for 3 years.
The postholder must have an MSc and/or BSc in Statistics. The postholder must have Applied health research experience using a variety of statistical methods and experience of writing papers for peer-reviewed journals. PhD (or working towards a PhD) in epidemiology, statistics or other relevant public health science is required, however an exceptional candidate who's eligible to register for a PhD in the area, could also be offered the post as a developmental/training role. In this case, they would be appointed as a Research Assistant at Grade 6 point 24-26, on the UCL salary scale (£27,907 - £29,435 per annum).
