Hi Scott,
I am specialised in these afrobrazilian religions, however my contacts are
in Recife, due to my fieldwork based there.
My suggestions are:
1. you can ask for religious markets overthere, they are a gift for all
the senses. And you can ask there, Brazilian people are very open. It is
very easy to get in contact with a Umbanda temple, not so much for a
Candomble.
2. I read a thesis written by Camila Pinheiro Medeiros that is based on
lesbian cansomble women whom work with Pombagira in Sao Paulo. (I do not
know her).
3. I have a friend who is a photography anthropologist living and working
there, I can ask her, if she knows something about it. My mail is:

Cheers,
Sonia
