Caroline,
Re. the British Museum - make sure you see their crystal skull and John Dee's scrying equipment while you're there. I stumbled across both of them on my trip, and I might have missed them if I wasn't wandering about.
The University College of London and the Wellcome Institute also have some interesting collections with regard to the history of magic, but you'll likely be in enough libraries already.
The best piece of advice I could give, though, is to figure out a way to get out of London and Oxford for a little while and see the countryside. A friend of mine took me on a whirlwind tour of Stonehenge, Glastonbury, and Avebury in a single day, which is a little much, and I also took about a day in Penzance, which was definitely too little time. Both were absolutely memorable, and they serve as a pleasant contrast to urban settings (not that I disliked either London or Oxford, mind you).
Also, you might write Christina at Treadwell's, who should be able to give you some more suggestions.
Sincerely,
Dan

Subject: [ACADEMIC-STUDY-MAGIC] Occult London Suggestions
Hello List Members...
I’m coming to London (and Oxford) in late April / early May this year in order to do research in the British and Ashmolean Museums. I’m wondering what resources I can use to find out what other interesting things there are for an Australian occultist to do in London - and Oxford? I’m already booked into Frater Achad’s ‘Rite of Isis’ at Treadwells on the 26 April. I will be in London from 21 to 28 April, then Oxford from 29 April to 4 May, and back in London on 5 and 6 May. (Those are reasonably flexible dates). I’ve already spoken to Mogg and to Yvonne Aburrow, both Oxford Pagans. But I’m interested to hear what kind of things I can / should attend in my brief time in London-Oxford? I know about occult shops, they are easy to find, is there anything else scintillating that I should make an effort to do? Any Pagan Meet-Ups to go to? That sort of thing? I know there are a million things to do that I could spend all my waking hours on, just museum-wise... but what else should I do. (Hope this isn’t too off topic for the list?)
Thanks,
from
Caroline Tully.
