Dear Colleagues,
In today's environment, it is critical to one's career to network with colleagues, keep up with the latest trends and techniques and develop new skills. However with the budget challenges that many libraries face, it grows increasingly difficult for a librarian to attend the conferences that provide these key benefits.
The IEEE can help. If you are interested in attending the 2012 UKSG Conference in Glasgow but lack the travel budget to do so, enter your name in the online entry form at this url http://tinyurl.com/7379evl and you will be automatically entered in a random drawing to win a free conference registration. (A value of £595.00 + VAT). This drawing is part of an IEEE program to help support libraries during difficult economic times.
While you are there, you are also invited to attend the following IEEE events:
IEEE Customer Dinner meeting on Monday, 26 March 2012, The Restaurant Bar & Grill, Glasgow City Centre. Register at this url http://uksgglasgow.eventbrite.co.uk/
and
IEEE User Group meeting on Thursday, 29 March 2012 at Glasgow Caledonian University. See this url for registration http://ieeeusergroup2012.eventbrite.co.uk/
Information professionals who oversee IEEE Xplore or who answer their users’ questions on how to efficiently find IEEE content should attend. This is a meeting for librarians who are familiar with IEEE Xplore and who would like to have input on future development. To learn more about the IEEE User Group meeting or to confirm your attendance please visit http://ieeeusergroup2012.eventbrite.co.uk/.
About UKSG:
The 2012 Annual Conference and Exhibition will take place from 26-28 March at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre in Glasgow. The Annual Conference and Exhibition now attracts in excess of 650 delegates and offers the perfect opportunity for all players in the serials information chain, both industry newcomers and seasoned campaigners, to exchange news, views and information on the rapidly changing and developing global serials scene, to find out about the latest product and service technologies, and to make new friends and business contacts.
Please note: Entrant must be a librarian in the STM space in order to qualify. UKSG conference attendees already registered are not eligible for the drawing. The award is a pre-paid registration and not a reimbursement. IEEE will not be responsible for travel/transportation, hotel or food expenses associated to attend the conference. Must enter by 9 March to qualify for drawing. Winner will be drawn randomly and contacted by IEEE by 12 March.
