Dear Mailbase Members
At rather short notice - tomorrow in fact, I have been asked to present
Space Syntax and what it is about to 10 artists. The artists have been
paired with people that follow a set route from an informal settlement
in durban, south africa, where they live, into the city, where they
work.
As a space syntax practitioner I am looking at this from a collective
rather than an individual perspective and am hoping to use space syntax
to show where installations could be placed to have the maximum visual
impact or footfall past, or whatever the artists are thinking of doing
in terms of the impact they want there work to have on the public realm
and then assist in determining that location.
I was just wondering if anyone on the mailbase has tried to relate the
location of art installations to space syntax or any other visual
material of interest that would be inspiring for the artists to see
with respect to city movement patterns.
Your thoughts and comments would be appreciated.
Kind regards
Bridget Horner
