You need to look at tools like autotagger and taxonomy-based managed
metadata

Subject: How soon before meta data is automatically generated?
Dear all,
I have been thinking about the future of records management and I wondered
if we are on the cusp of a new era. By that I mean, most of our work
requires a binary judgement or a selection of options. ( I am putting this
crudely to illustrate the issue.)
For example, if we choose the meta dat, the retention period, and the
classification of the document, we are making a concious choice. Often we
have to get the user to do that or the records manager does it later or even
the archivist.
Yet, what happens when the system makes these choices based on an analysis
of the text as generated through a implicit algorithm function? So, for
example, this email as I type it gets classified based on my identity as a
user, where the document is going. For 99.999% this will be deleted without
much thought. (By that, I mean it does not fit any of the immediate or
secondary retention criteria operating in organisations. Although it may be
retained on the jiscmail archive). Now, what happens, if we can make that
decision for us, not based on any rules we set up as recipients but based
upon the rules or analysis within the text based upon the source's criteria?
In a sense, the retention process would mirror the search engine process.
Perhaps there is a future development in that area.
I would be interested in your views. If anyone has done research along
these lines or on this topic, I would be grateful for any links.
Best
Lawrence
