We have did a few small trials with thin clients - Microsoft's offering, Citrix and VMWare View - a couple of years ago. At the end of the day they were a little too expensive for us to use wholesale though we use VMWare View for remote thin client access from home for staff and students. I have had the usual argument thrown at me about keeping hardware for a long time but it is a red herring. Other items of hardware change - try buying an EGA monitor or sticking a USB 3 device on an old USB computer. By the time you have paid for the software, licences and backend hardware it is probably more expensive. The major problem we encountered was that, no matter which one we used, it was obvious you were using a thin client and not a proper PC. We also use Skype and thin clients have issues with sending sound back down the line.

Subject: [VLES] Thin Clients
I've been asked to find out if anyone is using thin client technology instead of PC on every desk? Please let me know.
Thanks
