This will work only for data from some scanners, which has also not
been through a PACS system. The Private_0029_1020 field is likely to
be a manufacturer-specific extension, and not a part of the official
(2,000 page) DICOM standard. My understanding is that when DICOM are
entered into a PACS system, the non-standard fields are stripped out.
dicominfo is part of the Image Processing toolbox of MATLAB. If you
don't have access to this, then you could try:
P=spm_select(1,'.*','Select a DICOM file');
H=spm_dicom_headers(P);
disp(H{1})
