Tribal is a technology and services business in the global education,
learning and training markets. We are currently looking for an enthusiastic
and organised team player to join our team on the Microsoft Campus,
Thames Valley Park, Reading.
This role requires flexibility. We are looking for someone to work 1170
hours per year which equates to 22.5 hours per week. However due to
the nature of the job, the role holder will be required to adopt a fully
flexible working pattern to provide holiday cover as and when required.
A large proportion of this cover will fall during school holidays. Therefore,
there will be no set working pattern from week to week.
The Overallpurpose of the role is:
- To provide fully flexible support to the supervisor in managing the Learning Centre library to provide the employees of Microsoft UK with a library service to meet their needs both for professional development and personal development
- To provide support as part of an enhanced & relaunched service as a Research, Information and Library Service to more fully meet the fast-changing needs of users to provide maximum business benefit to Microsoft
Key tasks and responsibilities:
Tribal’s onsite team provides the following services for employees ofMicrosoft UK:
- Managing the library collection & circulation of stock
- Classifying and cataloguing stock
- Processing and managing acquisition of stock and ordering resources for employees
- Managing journal subscriptions
- Efficiently handling day-to-day user enquiries
- Managing and planning annual budget
- Preparing monthly reports
- Providing of a research service to meet Microsoft users’ needs
- Co-ordinating information for Microsoft certification processes for employees
- Marketing and promoting services
- Developing otherservices such as proofreading
The Library & Learning Centre Assistant role specifically comprises
activities and tasks toassist the librarian with the following duties:
- Circulating and cataloguing library stock using library management system
- Shelving
- Dealing with day-to-day user enquiries
- Managing journal subscriptions
- Assisting with regular awareness and marketing of the service
- Assisting with regular reporting of usage statistics
- Undertaking research as requested under the direction of the Learning Centre manager
- Assisting with the administration of certification for employees
- Any additional project-based duties as required
The ideal candidate will be a graduate in a relevant discipline and will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and a friendly and outgoing personality. The ability to prioritise and work to deadlines is essential as is the ability to work independently. A good level of IT skills is essential along with experience of working in a team in a library, research or information environment. A library or information management qualification is essential and customer service experience is an advantage.
