POSTED ON BEHALF OF ADRO
The Association for Departmental Records Officers (ADRO) is conducting this survey to ascertain if and how public authorities in the United Kingdom are using Web 2.0 tools to carry out government business and how public records created using Web 2.0 tools are currently managed.

Deadline date for the survey:28 February 2012
The purpose of the Association (ADRO) is to provide a forum of Departmental Records Officers (D.R.O.s) and other interested parties to discuss matters of mutual concern, to receive and disseminate information, and as occasion requires present a unified response to approaches from the National Archives (TNA) or other bodies. The survey was designed and developed by Queensland State Archives. ADRO would like to thank Queensland State Archives for allowing ADRO to adapt and use the survey.
UK public authorities are increasingly using online technologies, such as Web 2.0 and social media tools to enhance their business processes. Web 2.0 is a term used to describe a broad shift to an online environment characterised by interaction, collaboration and user-generated content. Social media can take many different forms, including internet forums, weblogs, social blogs, wikis, podcasts, instant messaging and crowdsourcing. Examples of external Web 2.0 websites include social media sites such as Facebook, blogging or micro-blogging such as Twitter, social networking sites such as LinkedIn, or other content sharing sites such as YouTube and Flickr. Internal organisational wikis and forums, or other collaborative technologies such as Google.docs, are also considered Web 2.0 tools.
Public records may be created when these tools are used to conduct government business. Your agency's response will inform the development of recordkeeping advice and guidance to assist public authorities to meet their recordkeeping obligations when working in the Web 2.0 environment. Please complete the survey COB by28 February 2012.
