Hi Hayley
I don't think anyone has mentioned the PCST Conference, which is in Florence in April (http://www.pcst2012.org/index.php).
I think there's a pre-conference meeting on 17 April for postgrads.
Best wishes
Rick

Thanks for all your responses! It is great to see that there is so much out there. Seems I am spoilt for choice. The suggestions have been really helpful and have certainly given me some great ideas.
Keep the suggestions coming and I hope to see you all at the events!
Thanks
Hayley

If you want to meet people who work in informal and face-to-face science communication then you've got to come to the British Interactive Group's BIG Event, which is happening at the National Railway Museum in York in late July this year.
See www.big.uk.com/latest-news?mode=PostView&bmi=768127<http://www.big.uk.com/latest-news?mode=PostView&bmi=768127>
The BIG event is always good value, and the whole thing is much less stuffy than most conferences - if you come there's a good chance that you'll make lots of useful contacts and learn stuff that's actually useful in communicating science.
See you in York?

Hi all!
I have just found out that I have some money in my PhD grant to pay for transferrable skills training and my supervisor has given me free reign to blow it all on sci. comm. training!
So I was wondering- in your opinion which are the best value for money short courses and conferences in outreach/ science communication? Obviously what I end up doing will depend on many factors but I thought this would be an interesting talking point if nothing else. What would you spend the money on?
Best wishes
Hayley
(P.s we are talking a £2500- unfortunately not an unlimited pot of gold!)
