Free screening of Jeremy Deller’s ‘The Battle of Orgreave’ at the City Varieties Music Hall in Leeds, Saturday 28 January 2012 in association with Red Ladder Theatre and Artangel. Screening starts at 5pm and following the film, there will be a Q&A panel chaired by Rod Dixon, director of Red Ladder, Phill Jupitus, star of the ‘Big Society’ production, Boff Whalley (author of ‘Big Society’) and David Douglass, NUM rep for Orgreave and advisor on the re-enactment.
This screening has been organised by Sarah Wishart, PhD research student at Leeds University, who is researching political live art and the audience, and who is keen to push the event out to audiences who might not have come across this work before and particularly to Sheffield communities and local people who might well have attended the re-enactment in 2001 as audience members.
Booking is not necessary – just turn up on the day. For any further information please contact Sarah Wishart on [log in to unmask]
