Hi
I also put regarding impaired far vision which is not corrected by
glassess/lenses as it is suprising how many I have had who dont feel
they need to go to the options although they cannot see the road signs
until up very close to them!

You have no idea how timely this is for me - case on my desk involving

Subject: [OCC-HEALTH] Occupational Drivers
Hi all
Just thought I'd share the following which I have started putting in
all my reports where driving is feature.
Occupational drivers should declare themselves potentially unfit if
driver control or safety is threatened e.g.
· Experiences pain when pressing firmly on the pedals.
· Experiences pain that may be distracting.
· Using painkillers that may compromise concentration/alertness.
· Unable to freely perform an emergency stop.
· There is risk of immediate incapacity e.g. loss of
consciousness, pain so severe and sudden in onset it does not allow
time to safely park.
Management must ensure all drivers understand their legal
responsibilities regarding declaring themselves potentially medically
unfit to drive if there is any question about this fitness in any way;
http://www.rospa.com/roadsafety/info/workfitness.pdf provides further
relevant advice and information
