Editorial Assistants (Part time)
We currently have two Editorial Assistant positions open, supporting Afterall journal and online platforms, and supporting the Exhibition Histories series of books. These positions are based at Afterall's editorial office in the new King's Cross campus of Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design in London.
Job description
In each of these roles, you will have the chance to work with the Afterall editorial team, discussing significant exhibitions and works of contemporary art. Day-to-day, you will take on a variety of responsibilities that range from researching and editing texts for publication, to sourcing images and drafting picture captions. You will also be expected to update the relevant pages of the Afterall website; produce marketing material; co-ordinate Afterall events and help co-ordinate advertising; and process project-related invoices.
Your profile
To join us, you will need experience in book production; specifically art publishing. You must be comfortable editing texts, researching pictures, handling marketing and events and working on websites. Broad knowledge of contemporary visual arts and theory is essential, together with a firm grasp of Afterall’s remit as a research and publishing organisation. We will also be looking for initiative, accuracy, good organisational skills and a strong sense of teamwork.
