Dear Colleagues
We hope you might be interested in attending the following event.
Weight and body size in the clinic
Thursday 16th Feb 2012, 1.30 – 5.00 p.m.
Seminar Room 2, 5th Floor, Williamson Building, Oxford Road,
University of Manchester
A joint meeting of the North West Health Psychology Research Network & North West Medical Sociology Study Group
Obesity is seen as a rising and pressing health issue in the UK and has been researched, understood and debated from a variety of disciplinary perspectives. When thinking about clinical work in this area, the obesity clinic, and weight loss surgery and medicines may spring to mind most readily. Yet there are a range of clinical sites where issues of weight and body size are likely be thought of as pertinent, where different professional understandings and techniques may come to bear. This inter-disciplinary research meeting will draw together social science researchers with an interest in the management of overweight/obesity in a variety of clinical settings and from a variety of disciplinary and methodological perspectives.
