Documentation Officer
£25,255 p.a. Fixed Term until March 2013
The Museum of London is looking for a Documentation Officer to work on a range of tasks and initiatives relating to our collections management system, MIMSY XG. Working under the Documentation Manager, in addition to providing first line support and training to staff, you will be involved with the drafting of new collections management procedures, organising collections audit, as well as running data quality checks on new and existing records.
You will be educated to degree standard or equivalent and have a genuine interest in documentation and data management issues. You must have experience of using and maintaining a collections management system, preferably along with an associated reporting tool. A good knowledge of relevant standards is expected, particularly SPECTRUM, and their application to collections management procedures. You should also have experience of training others and producing high quality end-user documentation.
A major part of the role will be to support the Documentation Manager in all aspects of Collections Online, an ambitious project to put 90,000 objects online by 2013. Meticulous attention to detail, good time management and the ability to work to a demanding schedule are all essential.
