We have recently received requests from students to obtain .pdf versions of books on reading lists for eventual conversion to audio format. We are managing to fulfill the requests on an ad hoc basis, but wondered how other institutions are managing this process. Does your Library staff contact publishers for .pdfs? Are publishers amenable to sending the .pdfs for single or multiple student use? If publishers have given you permission to scan, how do you manage this (and any associated costs)? Please feel free to contact me off-list, if you wish.
