Chris,
I think this is rather a simplistic generalisation, I've met a number of
archivists with wide ranging experience and knowledge. There are some
very innovative digitisation and online initiatives in the archives
world with relevance to archaeology. I know one archaeologist who is
currently doing a post graduate archives course part time/
A qualification in information management might be more relevant to HER
officers than one in archives. I have been accepted onto the chartership
programme of the Chartered Institute of Libraries and Information
Professionals (CILIP) and I am currently working towards chartered
member status.

I wouldn't have thought so. I've never met a trained archivist who would
be able to do anything else - and most never have, just school, history
degree, archive qualification and record office for 'life'.

Hi everyone,
Here's a Wednesday afternoon question for you. Do any HER Officers out
there have a professional archives qualification?
Kind regards,
Melissa
