Subject: Leverhulme Early Career Fellowships, U.Kent (United Kingdom degree holders only; SHORT NOTICE!)
Forwarded on behalf of Dr John Partridge, Dr David Hornsby and Dr Ana de Medeiros, University of Kent.
A few points:
- Please address any queries to Dr Partridge or Dr Hornsby (contact details in the text below).
- Leverhulme Early Career Fellowships are unfortunately only open to people who have a degree from a UK University (apologies to others for spam).
- The deadline here is now very short; see below! However, the materials required by Leverhulme are short compared to most fellowships and job-applications.
- As it happens, I (Damien Hall) have one of Kent's two current Leverhulme ECFs. I can attest that Kent is a great place to work, and that Leverhulme work beautifully with Fellows - they really seem to want you to succeed with your research! I am doing a research project in French linguistics, though both David Hornsby (also a linguist of French) and I are based in the Department of English Language and Linguistics. 'English Language and Linguistics' is just a name, and doesn't imply any hostility towards linguistics of other languages.
- Would anyone who has an advisee or supervisee that they think would benefit from one of these generous Fellowships please pass it on to them?
=========================================
The School of European Culture and Languages at the University of Kent is looking to support at least one Leverhulme Early Career Fellow in 2012. The School includes Departments of Classical and Archaeological Studies, Comparative Literature, English Language & Linguistics, French, German, Hispanic Studies, Italian, Religious Studies, and Philosophy.
The fellowship could be held within or across any of the Sections or Centres of the School. Applicants will of course need to engage with the research interests of staff in the School. For further details, see:
http://www.kent.ac.uk/secl/researchcentres/clls/index.html
Those wishing to be considered for selection should submit: 1) a CV, 2) a one page summary of their research proposal, 3) a statement outlining why Kent is the ideal place to hold a Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship. All three items should be submitted to Dr. J.G. Partridge, Director, Centre for Language and Linguistic Studies [log in to unmask] or Dr. D.C. Hornsby, Head of English Language and Linguistics [log in to unmask] by the end of January at the latest: apologies for the late notice! Please pay careful attention to eligibility, which needs to be checked by potential applicants before considering an application - see
