Narratives and Ageing: A Reading by Martin Walser and Jane Gardam

Renowned German author Martin Walser (Ein liebender Mann, 2008; Muttersohn, 2011) is joined by Whitbread Novel prize-winner Jane Gardam (Old Filth, 2004; The Man in the Wooden Hat, 2009) in a reading from their recent and unpublished works on the theme of ageing. There will be an introduction by Karen Leeder, Professor of Modern German Literature at New College, Oxford. The reading will be followed by a discussion with the audience.
The event is organised by the Institute of Germanic & Romance Studies (University of London), in conjunction with the Institute for German Studies (University of Birmingham) and the University of Leeds. Additional sponsorship is provided by the Keith Spalding Trust (IGRS, London).
