Yes, I had noticed that too, but the difficulty is that the name was in use before the modern field pattern was laid out. Perhaps the enclosure map would reveal that the pre-enclosure Pilch Common was triangular.
An A2A search reveals a Pilch Wong close in Elkington in Northamptonshire, mentioned in several late 16th- and early 17th-century deeds from Cold Ashby and Welford (this must be the modern Pilshong Farm, which lies in a narrow arm of Elkington parish extending between Cold Ashby and Welford). There is also a Pilch Lane in Ormskirk, Lancashire, mentioned in a 1736 deed on A2A.
