Hello All,
We spend our days arguing over what would be the most beneficial method
of dealing with the pollution that is screwing up the climate and
meanwhile the very people with the power to make the changes necessary
to stop these emissions do everything in their power to fly totally in
the face of every sensible effort. This time its the Chinese in concert
with the US and Russia. It is obvious that the US will object because
they are the big playground bully but Russia should have more sense
after all the years of industrial pollution they have had. The Chinese
are being threatening as well. They won't pay carbon tax on air flights
simple as that. This is despite their country being the biggest net
emissions contributor this last year. There are overtones of trade
sanctions and to be honest it would do the world good to de-clutter
itself of all these unnecessary trinkets which also contribute to the
climate bubble. Less trade = less pollution. Problem solved. Time to go
local and stay local with all our production and consumption. Now that
would be the sensible thing to do and the devil take the hindmost.
Otherwise I have to ask why the hell do we bother? This objectionable
behaviour by the Chinese, Russia and the US suggests that they are
counting on us concerned citizens to cobble together a 'fix' that will
geo-engineer the climate so they can continue to pollute to their hearts
content. Either that or they are simply hoping we will give in.
Your thoughts on this are welcomed.
